A mobile home fire has claimed the life of a Taylorsville woman, officials say. The Alexander County 911 Communications Center received a call regarding a structure fire in the 800 block of McClellan LN at 4:20 p.m. on February 26th, 2014. Responding Fire and EMS personnel arrived on scene to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was brought under control, the body of a female was discovered inside. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Alexander County Fire Marshall and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to begin an investigation into the cause of the fire and what claimed the life of the occupant. The assistance of the NC State Bureau of Investigation’s Arson Investigation Unit was also requested to help determine the cause and origin of the fire. This is an active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
