NNO-2014

Sheriff Chris Bowman and his staff have worked diligently over the past several months preparing for Alexander County’s 2nd Annual National Night Out Against Crime.  The event will be held next Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6pm until 9pm in the large grassy field on Town Park Avenue (behind Taylorsville Fire Department).  This year’s event will feature live entertainment by Shook Lane Band, free children’s activities including inflatable slide and bounce house and a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog, various emergency equipment displays, and informational booths from community organizations.

National Night Out is a nationwide initiative designed to bring the police and community together to fight crime and promote safer communities.  This will mark the 2nd year that Alexander County has participated in the event which is in its 31st year nationwide.

Community members who attend the event can enjoy free hotdogs, bottled water, and popcorn while supplies last.  This year’s event will also feature funnel cakes and nachos being sold for only $3 each (or 2 for $5) and canned drinks sold for only $1 each.  All proceeds from the event will go to Alexander County Crime Stoppers which is a local non-profit crime prevention organization and partner with law enforcement.

Parking is free but limited on-site.  Please enter Town park Avenue from the lower (1st Avenue Drive SE) entrance to access the parking area.  Limited handicap parking will also be available at the event.  Remember to bring a lawn chair and come out to enjoy an evening of fun!
